The project marks the biggest expansion at Changi Airport to date. It is part of Changi East development, which also includes the development of a three-runway system and network of inter and intra-terminal tunnels.

The single integrated terminal will be bigger than the existing terminals at the airport. It will be built on a 1,080-hectare greenfield site located to the east of the airport.

The first phase of the new integrated terminal building, T2, was inaugurated at Chennai International Airport in April 2023.

The first phase of T2 increases the airport’s annual passenger capacity from 23 million to 30 million. Phase II is ongoing and is expected to increase the terminal size to 197,000m² (2.2 million ft²) and the annual passenger handling capacity of the airport to 35 million.

The new Terminal C at the LaGuardia Airport in New York, US, was opened in June 2022. It is operated by Delta Air Lines, one of the biggest airlines in the country. It is an integral part of the $8bn LaGuardia Airport redevelopment, one of the most significant airport redevelopment projects in the US in the last 25 years.
